job description - Master Planner

  • Manage the Production Planning processes, outputs and resources to ensure customer OTIF and enhanced customer satisfaction within operation budgets
  • Medium term production optimisation and shift planning
  • Manage and guide IBP process.
  • Optimise Factory utilisation, Demand-, Inventory-and Supply parameters with customer.

Responsibilities

Master Planning

  • Manage the creation of a factory wide masterplan, including production schedule, maintenance, laboratory, QA/QC, Warehouse and MRP across the value chain.
  • Balance demand and supply effectively to achieve strategic goals.
  • Provide “what if” capacity and schedule analysis for changing demand, staffing constraints, and new customer project awards.
  • Plan to minimise effects of resource constraints.
  • Develop and oversee capacity planning activities for sales and operations planning, master scheduling, marketing application timelines, materials requirement planning, detailed scheduling.
  • Suggest batch size changes, re-routing of products and outsourcing/ purchasing of additional equipment, as required.
  • Optimise parameters across the value chain to unlock value.
  • Ensure that all units are aligned to produce an optimised plan.

Planning coordination and reporting

  • Manage, prepare and facilitate the monthly supply point reviews for your specific unit.
  • Drive the adherence to key KPIs including budgeted, planned and actual OTIF, ATP, Schedule adherence and recoveries.
  • Work with production supervisors and managers for optimal efficiency to meet the needs of internal and external customers.
  • Assess and report on manpower requirements.
  • Assist the creation of SKU, work centre and labour matrix to allow for optimisation when demand or supply changes.
  • Ensure change controls are actioned appropriately.
     

Risk and Controls

  • Monitor sales against forecast volumes, identifying at-risk products.
  • Identify supply deficits, over-scheduling, capacity constraints and under-loaded schedules and highlight recoveries-related financial risks and critical materials shortages.
  • Ensure delivery terms are met and that correct documentation accompanies consignments.
  • Input into routings, inventory policies and related pertinent processes

Planning optimisation

  • Develop and manage data from all value chain units to create optimisation and simulation ability.
  • Work with the analytics team to continuously improve our ability to drive key KPIs.

Requirements
Skills required

Background/experience

  • 5 to 10 years’ experiencein a Supply Chain, Procurement or Planning role
  • Experience in a pharmaceutical/FMCG manufacturing environment
  • 3 year degree in Procurement, Logistics or Engineering,or a related discipline

Specific job skills

  • Computer literacy: proficiency in Excel, Word, Powerpointand ERP system
  • Solid understanding of S&OP/IBP
  • Scenario planning, optimisation and/or simulation experience
  • End to end understanding of Supply Chain operations in Plan, Source, Make and Deliver.

 Competencies

  • Ability to represent SA OPS in global planning platforms
  • Strong leadership skill to guide business decision making considering service, cost and cash.
