job description - Kawasaki/ Kuka Robots Maintenance Supervisors

Successful candidate is expected to have exceptional organizational and time management skills. Must display natural leadership and possess excellent communication skills with a great eye and attention for detail while displaying strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Candidate must possess a solid understanding of automation equipment, repairs, and refurbishments, cleaning, and managing maintenance team members. Knowledge of key maintenance procedures and processes is necessary while having extensive knowledge of health and safety regulations and practices within a manufacturing environment to ensure adherence to standards with the aim to improve facility availability through a proactive mindset of preventative maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • +95% Equipment Availability
  • Reduce breakdown Mean Time To Repair (MTTR)
  • Increase Equipment MTBF
  • PM completion ratio of > 97%
  • No Open Work Orders > Three months
  • Unplanned absentee management of < 3%
  • Develop and implement short, medium and long-term improvement plans for implementation within the automated systems and equipment
  • Take responsibility for investigating and introducing new engineering technologies and strategies with continuous monitoring of equipment using FIS
  • Undertake root cause analysis and ensure Permanent Corrective Actions (PCA’s) are implemented
  • Coach team members on Safety, Quality, and Productivity, to ensure objectives are met through following standardized work
  • Through Process Confirmation, verify that the assembly facility is running safely and consistently with minimal maintenance impact
  • Ensure PM/CM/EM are done with integrity and quality and Facilities are maintained to the standards
  • Manage absenteeism levels, employee versatility & operating assignments in the area of responsibility.
  • Support, drive and raise Kaizen’s (Continuous Improvement) and coach problem resolution to the lowest levels.
  • Meet and implement MOS standards and processes and achieve output targets of JPH, TTT, MTTR, MTBF, and PM scheduling as outlined in the MOS Policy Deployment.
  • Support and develop short term actions through the paynter processes and reviews
  • Develop weekend work plans and ensure spares and consumables are available to complete scheduled tasks.
  • Build Team Leader and Team Member capability, versatility, and training
  • Create a conducive work environment for the team(s) to complete their assigned responsibilities/tasks
  • Basic administration of supervisory responsibilities and documents
  • Conduct PJOs to enforce integrity and identify improvement opportunities


Minimum experience & qualifications required

  • N6 plus trade test or National Diploma (S4) /  BTech Degree in Electrical/Mechatronics or Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum of 3-5 years within the  Body Shop experience in full-time employment
  • Must  have displayed the proven capability of leading a team in a current or previous roles
  • Siemens S7 and Allen Bradly PLC fault finding and programming skills.
  • Kawasaki BX, MX, ZX series Robot fault finding, repair to standard, and programming skill.
  • Kuka Robot KRC4 fault finding, repair to standard, and programming skills.
  • HMI –Win CC Scada, Allen Bradley Panel View fault finding and programming skill.
  • SEW – Drive fault finding and programming skills.
  • Obara frequency welding experience.
  • SCA Auto Sealer systems Repair and Programming
  • Bosch adaptive welding experience Repair and programming
  • Network interface and fault finding, Wi-Fi , Profibus and Ethernet IP
  • Transfer and hoist systems.

Candidate Requirements

Minimum experience & qualifications required

  • Min. National Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical or Industrial Engineering, (Preferred) Qualified Fitter with Hydraulics or Pneumatics
  • Fundamental working knowledge of PLC logic and controls.
  • 3 Years’ experience in Automotive Skin Panel Stamping Manufacturing & Assembly
  • 3 Years’ experience in min. 1500 ton Press line capacity
  • Robotics Background or Automation Background
  • Quality Management - IATF 16949 knowledge and experience 

Maintenance Frames position

  • National Diploma or degree: Mechanical/Mechatronics/Electrical/ Automation Engineering
  • 5 - 10 Years  Automation and Maintenance Experience Preferably in the Chassis Assembly Field
  • Fault finding ability, Electrical, and Mechanical
  • Siemens S7 and Allen Bradly PLC fault finding and programming skills
  • Kawasaki BX, MX, ZX series Robot fault finding, repair, and programming skill.
  • SEW – Drive fault finding and programming skills.
  • SKS MIG welding experience.
  • Strong understanding of conveyors system programming and body tooling techniques, in addition to networking understanding, Ethernet, remote IO, ProfiBus, and Wireless Networks 
  • HMI –Win CC SCADA, Allen Bradley Panel View fault finding and programming skills
