- As a Desktop Enginner, you’ll need to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with occasionally conflicting priorities.
Support
- Provisions complex server environments.
- Applies technical abilities to recognize, research, isolate, and resolve basic hardware and software problems.
- Monitors system performance and capacity and provides input for needed expansion.
- Provides support to local and remote end-users by taking the necessary steps to investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve problems.
- Handles general upgrades and troubleshoots various hardware platforms.
- Audits and maintain hardware and software inventory.
- Conducts updates of management information systems, including asset management, time tracking and other systems.
- Participates in 24-7 on-call production support activities based upon documented support procedures.
- Escalates more complex issues to higher levels and management.
- Configures hardware and software for the corporate and production infrastructures.
- Coordinates moves, adds, and changes within the relevant technology infrastructure.
- Performs maintenance and release upgrades on a timely basis.
- Implements security hardening measures on hardware installations.
- Participates in enterprise-wide software rollouts.
- Keeps technical management informed about progress, problems and activities.
- Keeps peers informed about changes, improvements, etc. that may affect them.
- Uses knowledge of relevant product offerings and support policies to provide technically accurate solutions.
Analysis
- Learns how to identify opportunity and may be able to offer recommendations and solutions for improving efficiency and service.
- Monitors system performance and capacity and provides input for needed expansion.
- Researches and evaluates technology solutions that improve and enhance efficiencies for the corporate environment and recommends solutions to manager.
Impact You'll Make
- As a Desktop Engineer, you should have 3+ years progressive data communications experience, and an Associate’s Degree in a related technical field or similar discipline. In addition, you should have expertise and experience in technical and professional areas.
Technical Skills
- Demonstrated experience in the design, implementation and support of complex server infrastructures
- Ability to work with telecommunications companies.
- Good understanding of data communication protocols focusing on TCP/IP.
- Knowledge of server platforms in a corporate infrastructure.
- Knowledge of server security practices and tools.
- Experience with hardware and software based server monitoring tools.
Professional Skills
- Good written and verbal communications skills.
- Experience in the use of project management tools and methodologies.
