- Align, maintain and manage systems as it pertains to ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 standards, protocols and procedures
- Establish and maintain an internal ISO audit system in order to adhere to legislative requirements by DoL or for obtaining/applying for various tenders
- Liaise with the relevant certification bodies and coordinate audits
- Coordinate and implement corrective ISO action where shortfalls or inadequacies are identified
- Manage the document control process and flow
- Use appropriate techniques to evaluate and to redesign process systems in order to meet set safety and ISO standards
- Ensure compliance to permits, bylaws and legislative requirements
- Ensure compliance with Company safety regulations and adherence to safety standards, including safety induction and training
- Promote and ensure adherence to the safety policy and procedures
- Keep management up to date and informed about legislative requirements regarding Occupational health and safety
- Develop safety manuals and training programmes to enhance safe working conditions
- Review and update emergency procedures as and when necessary
- Conduct surveys and audits as required identifying and minimizing the risk to company and employees
- Identify unsafe acts, conditions and hazards, investigate root causes and identify corrective and preventative actions
- Conduct workplace Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments, Design and implement responses thereto
- Inspect the place of work to determine whether any machinery, plant, equipment, substance, appliances or process is of such nature liable to cause bodily injury to any person working in the place of work
- Investigate any accident, near-miss accident, dangerous occurrence, occupational poisoning or occupational disease that occurred in the place of work, Design and implement responses to limit or prevent a recurrence hereof
- Compile and submit health and safety related reports to management and third parties
- Liaise with Department of Labour as and when required i.e. regarding IOD’s.
- Responsible for monitoring contractors and vendors working on SA Metal Group sites, to ensure that Health & Safety practices are applied and upheld at all times
Qualifying Experience:
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- National Diploma in Safety Management, Environmental Management or equivalent.
- SAMTRAC/NEBOSH certificate
- Professional Registration with SACPCMP
- Extensive knowledge/experience in the implementation and management of ISO systems (9001, 14001, 45001)
- Extensive knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993
- Extensive knowledge of Occupational Regulations e.g. Driven machinery regulations 1988
- Valid driver’s license and own reliable transport
- Advanced computer literacy – MS Office, high proficiency in MS Excel
- Atleast 5 years’ experience in a production/manufacturing environment will be advantageous
- Experience in training facilitation will be advantageous
- Excellent communication skills
- Hands on practical approach to the job
- Ability to work under challenging conditions
