Primary Function (Project):
- Responsible for providing technical expertise within Wood Commissioning and supporting internal Functions in the delivery of services to our client.
- Accountable for the development and ongoing management of the project commissioning team and interfacing with other project departmental managers, the client, and vendors / sub-contractors.
- Accountable for ensuring all commissioning activities are carried out by Wood and project procedures in a safe, environmentally responsible manner.
- Accountable for the delivery of commissioning activities by the project schedule and budget.
- Accountable for ensuring high standards of commissioning are maintained and continuously improved.
Responsibilities:
- Provision of technical expertise and experience in the development of Wood commissioning business strategy and objectives.
- Provision of technical expertise and experience in the development of Wood commissioning procedures and tools to commission the project successfully.
- Interact and interface with the client Commissioning Manager to ensure seamless commissioning preparedness and flow from C3 to C4 commissioning.
- Provision of technical expertise in the development of high-quality proposals including the development of technical write-ups and estimates.
- Manage and direct the commissioning team and personnel in the safe and structured delivery of the project commissioning scope of work, ensuring all agreed objectives / KPIs are delivered.
- Continually strive to improve/develop the commissioning process and practices.
- Manage the commissioning budget and costs.
- Ensure all necessary sub-contracts, vendor contracts, and other support are in place.
- Ensure all necessary training for commissioning personnel is provided to assure all personnel is competent and hold the necessary level of qualifications/skills.
- Ensure the commissioning team is provided with the correct PPE, equipment, and tools to execute all work scopes safely and effectively.
- Audit/review of the project commissioning process ensuring where applicable recommendations are implemented.
- Third-party verification body liaison.
- Maintain the commissioning project schedule/cost deliverables.
- Interface with the client representatives as required.
- Interface with the Wood representatives (Site / Engineering) as required.
Skills / Qualifications
Qualifications:
- BEng / BSc (Eng) – Process / Chemical / Metallurgy
- Time served in relevant trade discipline, or relevant NVQ / SVQ / HNC / HND (or equivalent)
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
- Significant relevant completion and commissioning experience
- Hydrometallurgy and mineral processing knowledge and experience is an advantageous or proven track record in the industry with transferable skills
- Knowledge and experience with POX leaching in high-temperature and high-pressure autoclaves is preferred
- Exposure to working within a technical environment
- Experience in people management
- Experienced in a Lead role
- Excellent interpersonal organizational, communication, and team-building skills
- Computer literate
- Fully conversant about discipline technical knowledge
- Proven experience in interpreting discipline documentation
- Sound knowledge and understanding of Risk Assessments (RA), Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOPS), and Hazard Identification Studies (HAZIDS)
- Ability to work with timelines/targets
- Display both good judgment and leadership qualities
- Ability to be assertive and drive culture change when required
- Ability to advise system and subsystem priorities within construction activities to achieve early handover
- Ability to monitor work progress and report against the plan
