- The Department of Earth Sciences offers degree programmes in Applied Geology and Environmental & Water Sciences. The successful candidate will join the Applied Geology section of the department, adding expertise in sedimentology and petroleum geosciences to complement and extend existing expertise in sedimentology, sedimentary petrology, petroleum geoscience, and sequence stratigraphy.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key responsibility areas:
- Facilitate learning and teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in sedimentology, sedimentary petrology, petroleum geoscience and sequence stratigraphy.
- Conduct research and publish in sedimentology, sedimentary petrology and petroleum geoscience.
- Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research students.
- Provide academic leadership.
- Provide leadership in curriculum development and assessment initiatives.
- Provide leadership in community engagement and outreach.
Minimum Requirements
- PhD or equivalent in the field of sedimentology or sedimentary petrology.
- Demonstrated experience in facilitating learning in the field of sedimentology or sedimentary petrology.
- A record of quality peer reviewed publications in the field of sedimentology or sedimentary petrology.
- A record of successful postgraduate supervision at master’s and doctoral level.
- Evidence of expertise, national standing, and growing international presence in his/her discipline.
- The integration of community engagement with learning and teaching and/or research.
